"After Maeve" - the documentary

"Ten-year-old Maeve Coughlan was an unusual and gifted child. She was born in Ireland and died in a pedestrian accident on a cycling trip in Queensland, Australia in November 2003. Her parents decision to document their journey and their attempts to honour Maeve's creative spirit in their ongoing lives make this animated documentary an intimate and heart-warming exploration of life after loss"

This film, directed by Jan Cattoni and produced by Big Island Pictures, with funding from SBS Australia and RTE Ireland, had its World Premiere at the Guth Gafa International Documentary Festival in Donegal, Ireland on May 20, 2006.

It screened publicly in Israel in early July, and in Belgium on August 24.

Ireland RTE 1 followed on September 12, with some 230,000 viewers and superlative responses .

It screened in Australia on SBS Storyline on Thursday September 21 2006 followed by a webchat, a "Life matters" interview and feature articles in all major city papers.

As of February 2007 it has had its first North American broadcasts with TV Ontario, and we send a heartfelt thanks to our appreciative Canadian viewers...

Sushi Bar Maeve - "...Several weeks before Maeve died, we had been to a Sushi Bar together. I sat across from her and watched her, feeling full of love for her and full of the feeling of unspoken closeness. Maeve was a very picky eater and only ate avocado sushi. But we were both very happy, and I found my eyes filled with tears of gratitude for the experience of being with her. This animation was created for "After Maeve", but it didn't fit in there. I hope you enjoy it." (from Robyn)
